    I've got the Q54 and a QX52 and I love them. I've been thinking of rounding off my collection with this ICHI10. You make it sound better than that start. Think I'm going to find a good used one since I think Ichi has swtiched to another style. I do agree the fret markers are hard to see at night. Have you tried just keeping a flashlight handy and running it across the neck to get the dots glowing? Thx for the video.

    • @realkylehooks
      @realkylehooks 16 дней назад

      I bought a Q54 thinking it would give me a nice humbucker alternative, but I wasn't a fan. The hardware is a little cheaper on the Q54 than the ICHI, and the humbuckers didn't do the classic "humbucker thing" There's a used Ichi10 on Reverb for under $700 right now. Total steal. If I didn't already have 2 of them, I'd scoop it up.

      @@realkylehooks Yup.. I'm going to try and check it out this weekend. Will be in the area of the seller. If all works out might jump on it but at least I'll know how they feel. SO really the Q54 has "cheaper" hardware? I would have thought it was all the same. The Q54 is my main of the 2 that I have and I do agree it's not the best humbucker, but I play in neck alot so I deal.

      I've found if you just crank the mids on the amp, the ichi sounds like a Strat. The additional length and weight of the Strat are my main issues for live situations. I also occasionally miss humbucker sounds on a Strat, and the 1st and 5th positions with the alter switch on give the ichi great full humbucker-ish tone. Still though, I can't bash a Strat. Overall I love the guitar. I have a custom shop Strat, but I prefer the Ibanez for live. I have a Les Paul Custom, but I prefer the Ibanez for live. The pickups are very articulate without the alter switch on. With the alter switch it sounds very similar to humbuckers. High output, mid rangey, fat tone. I've played a Strandberg and liked it just fine, but the price was high. The Ibanez is just as good. The tones are very good and versatile, the neck is comfortable, it's very lightweight, the price is great, and it takes up less stage space. It's the best guitar for LIVE music I've ever played, and it is a great value for the price for studio work.

    Hi.. What's your opinion on the neck profile of that Ibanez? I just compared it with the Strat and it was quite a big difference in the feeling in the hand, the Ibanez was more like a D profile, I quickly returned to the Strat because it seems more pleasant, more comfortable C.. The Ibanez felt like I was holding a broom in my hand..but it was probably also the absence of a head. Maybe I would get used to it with time, but I didn't want to risk it.. Thanks.

    • @realkylehooks
      @realkylehooks Год назад

      Was the specific Ibanez you were playing the ICHI10? Most Ibanez use a ~16" radius which feels too flat to me, but the Ichi uses a 12", which doesn't feel *too* different than a typical Strat 9.75" radius. The Ichi uses a wizard C, most Strats are modern C. It feels a lot closer to a Strat neck than other Ibanez I've played. From my main Strat to the Ichi, the main difference I feel is the texture. My Strat has a little bit of glossy feel, the Ichi is satin and slides super easy. I personally go through phases. I play Strats for a while, then switch to Gibson Midtowns for a while and the neck feels weird for a day or two, then the Ichi and that feels weird for a day or two. Because of the ergonomics though, the Ichi has a permanent spot as my show guitar. It's a pretty neutral neck shape overall, very different than most Ibanez I've played. Less than 1mm difference in neck thickness and width

      I've played both. To my hands and ears, there's not really a discernible difference in quality. Both are in the 4-5lb range. The Strandberg doesn't have the volute like the Ibanez, and that makes it harder to play. The volute makes the Ibanez feel like it has a headstock, so it gives your hands a nice spot to reference like on a regular guitar. I have another headless guitar that lacks the volute, and I never play it.

    I have the exact same special. It is fantastic. Mine looks like it has ebony fretboard but the specs say rosewood, I have heard that some were ebony?

    I used to have the exact same guitar, a Futurama II deluxe. I bought it in 1968 second hand from Reno's musical instrument shop in Manchester. I couldn't afford a Fender stratocaster, that my hero in those days, Jimi Hendrix played, so the Futurama looked a bit like a strat, and it was cheap (then).

    Nice sound demo! An actually good demo is rare :) can you tell how good it hangs with a simple cheap strap? I suffer with neckdive...
